Alderney Gambling Control Commission suspend Full Tilt's license

Full Tilt respond with "Site down for maintenance"

29th June 2011 - For Immediate Release:
The Aldernay Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) today announced that they have suspended Full Tilt Poker's license to operate, thereby shutting down the site.

The AGCC said "The decision to suspend these licenses follows a special investigation prompted by the indictments unsealed by US Attorney General’s Office in the Southern District of New York on 15 April 2011, during which grounds were found to indicate that these licensees and their business associates were operating contrary to Alderney legislation. The nature of the findings necessitated the taking of immediate action in the public interest."

Shortly after the announcement it became apparent that it was no longer possible to log-in to the Full Tilt software.

Full Tilt have responded to today's news with the following notice on their homepage:

"Scheduled Maintenance In Progress

The system is currently down for maintenance. Please check back soon!"

They have yet to make an announcement regarding the future of the company, or what will happen to player's deposits.

The Isle of Man Gaming Supervision Commission, who hold Pokerstars.com's license, state they believe Pokerstars have abided by their rules and principles - including their core principle to "keep the gambling industry crime free". Pokerstars is one of the Isle of Man's biggest employers.

Today's events came as no shock to most of the industry, with poker pro Keith "The Camel" Hawkins perhaps summing it up best on his twitter feed: "I guess after Black Friday, today should be called Predictable Wednesday".
