Poker players will have their hands full this weekend as PokerStars will be running the WCOOP Challenge Series starting today, December 20. For three consecutive days, players will be invited to participate in for one of the five events, with buy-ins ranging from $109-$2,100.
At the beginning of the month, the poker company ran another exciting competition and there was no shortage of players interested in taking a stab at the PokerStars December Festival. Once again, the first day of the weekend marks the beginning of a short but intense poker circuit, aimed at bringing together both regular players and highrollers.
The WCOOP Challenge Series begins with two tournaments scheduled for Friday, with the opening starting at 13:00 ET with the buy-in of $109. Four hours later, the stakes are doubled, but so is the guaranteed prize while the next day things are taken to the next level. WCOOP Challenges 3 and 4 will set players back $700, respectively and $1050, but both events have a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million.
Past performance suggests that these guaranteed prize pools will be exceeded and this also applied to the $2,100 Main Event scheduled for Sunday at 3 PM E.T. Players will be competing for a total of $3 million and those who don’t have the money to buy-in, should contemplate the possibility of securing a place by winning one of the satellites. In addition, to receiving a significant amount, winners will also be presented with a free entry for the 2014 WCOOP Main Event worth $5,200 and a shiny commemorative money clip.
