Winning a large sum of money in such a public way does have its drawbacks unfortunately and Jay Farber who finished in 2nd place in the 2013 World Series Of Poker Main Event for $5,174,357 has sadly had to witness that first hand.
According to his Twitter account his house was robbed whilst he went out to eat some dinner. What is more ironic is that this robbery occurred just a couple of days before he was due to have new security cameras installed on the property.
Wow. My fuckin house got robbed while I'm out to dinner. 2 days before I get my cameras installed. Fuck. My. Life.

Farber as you are probably already aware worked his way through a field of 6,352 players in the $10k WSOP Main Event to eventually find himself heads up for the title against eventual winner Ryan Riess. He could not quite get past his opponent who went on to take home the first place payout of $8,361,570 but would still have been happy enough with his haul for second place.
This is the world’s most famous poker event and is televised all over the world let alone just the United States, so everyone and his dog will know of the latest millionaires.
It is unclear at this point as to exactly what was taken, if any damage was caused, if there were any witnesses, whether the robbers were caught or whether in fact the incident was even reported as there is literally only his tweet to go on.
What we do know is that this has to act as a lesson to anyone else that has had their new found wealth so publicly announced. There are a lot of people out there that will not think twice at attempting to get a slice of that wealth and will look for any opportunity to do so.
It was unfortunate that Farber was just days away from getting his new security system installed which makes us wonder just who knew about this upcoming installation and that Farber would in fact be out at that time.
All we can say now is take heed Ryan Riess!
