While a great deal of players are focusing their attention on SCOOP which is happening on PokerStars, the high stakes cash games are going on as strong as ever on Full Tilt Poker.
The biggest winners of the week were Alex “Alexonmoon” Luneau, who won $380,067 and Dan “jungleman12” Cates with $232,614. However, it was the list of losers of the week who drew the most attention as the top five included some of the biggest names in poker as well as a high stakes Macau regular.
It was “MalACEsia”, who was recently revealed to be Macau high stakes play Paul Phau who sat atop the leader board with $603,392 in losses, after playing six sessions totaling 1,310 hands. Phil Ivey, after dropping over $100,000 last week, fared no better this week. Over the course of 61 sessions and 5,917 hands, Ivey was down $589,730. Gus Hansen ranked third in terms of losses. He was down $358,287. Phil Galfond, down $275,918 and Patrik “FinddaGrind” Antonius rounded out the top five. Galfond’s losses were offset a bit as he did finish runner up in SCOOP Event #20 (PLO 6-Max Re-Entry) for $107,712.
Alex Luneau claimed his spot as the week’s biggest winner mostly through playing two tables of $2,000/$4,000 triple draw against Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen and Patrick Antonius. In just twenty minutes he was up at $120,000 at one table and $59,000 at the other.
Much of Phil Ivey’s losses came from two sessions of $2,000/$4,000 fixed-limit Omaha hi/lo against Kyle “KPR16” Ray. In the first 145 minute session, Ivey started with a big lead but ended up stuck for $105,800. The two met again later in the day with Ivey dropping another $67,000 in only 30 minutes.
Gus Hansen looked like he was going to end up in the winner’s list as he started the week with a $341,400 profit at the 2-7 triple draw tables, but was unable to keep the momentum through the end of the week.
