Cash Game Pro Wins UKIPT Edinburgh, Boeree Runner Up

Liv Boeree

PokerStars Team Pro Liv Boeree continued her strong 2014 start and finished just short of claiming her second major title at the UK Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Edinburgh.

Boeree played well throughout the entire event and her optimism showed in her tweets.

The final table was on pace to be another for the record books as three players were eliminated in the first 25 minutes, and three handed in just under 2 hours. Boeree and Hutchinson shared the honour of sending their opponents to the rail with Liv eliminating 5 of the final table players.

Heads up play started with Boeree sitting behind the big stack.

The tournament appeared to be over in short order when Boeree snapped called Hutchinson’s pre-flop shove with pocket Kings.

Hutchinson spiked a straight on the river and started a two hour heads up competition.

The two exchanged the chip lead throughout the play. On the final hand, Boeree flopped two pair and was all in against Hutchinson who rivered a better two pair, giving him the championship.

Boeree said “It was almost the perfect final table.”  But was upbeat despite not capturing her second title. Coupled with her first cash in the PCA Main event, where she finished 50th, the UKIPT runner up finish is a very good start for the pro.

After claiming the title Hutchinson said. “I decided to play at the last minute, It was a hard final table, my friend (Michael Kane) was on the final table and it was really good having a rail and their support, it’ll be a great memory. At the start of heads-up my confidence was really low and she ground me down. Fortunately I got lucky with A-4 against kings. That got my confidence up.”
