Dan Cates 1,500 Mile ‘Oops Moment’

oops on keyboard

Many professional poker players have been taking a post-WSOP break before the big poker tours kick in, a little later this month. Dan “Jungleman12” Cates however, wanted to get right back into the action by going somewhere he could actually play some online poker, whilst of course taking in a relaxing new location. Well, things didn’t go exactly as planned.

The desired destination? Mexico… San Jose dél Cabo in Mexico to be exact.

However, as it turned out, despite having established himself as one of the most feared online poker players over the years, capable of outwitting the very best in the business at the tables, those wits seemed to desert him as he ended up arriving in the wrong San Jose, in the wrong country.

We have all done similar before but perhaps not on the same scale. How many times have you got on the wrong train, or got off at the wrong stop? The thing with that is that it is pretty easy to do, whereas going to a completely different city in a different country is surely not so simple.

As we mentioned above, he was supposed to be heading to San Jose dél Cabo but actually ended up in San Jose California, a small matter of 1,500 miles away from where he wanted to be. How he managed it is uncertain but his good friend and fellow poker professional Justin Smith was not going to let him get away with the mishap too easily after posting a picture of his text conversation with Cates on Instagram.

It does all beg the question of how he managed to make such a howler though? Did he book online and just select the wrong San Jose, or did he buy his ticket directly at the airport making the same mistake before not noticing at all before boarding the plane?

Still, we can just imagine the look on his face when he steps out of the airport and thinks to himself “this is not how I pictured Cabo at all”.
