Last night the EPT Barcelona Main Event was officially labelled as the second largest European Poker Tour event of all time as the final registrations were calculated at 1,234. This meant that a prize pool of €5,984,900 would be shared amongst the 183 highest finishers and the winner would receive €1,067,000 in prize money.
As the day finished there were 242 players out of that field remaining, meaning there was lots of bloodshed during the six seventy five minute levels.
The player that not only survived all that frantic action but actually finished with the largest amount of chips was Pablo Alexander Tavitian, after his haul of 465,000 put him ahead of Niall Farrell who amassed 444,000 throughout the day.
Further back in the field were some highly regarded players in the form of Victor Ramdin, Marvin Rettenmaier, Shannon Shorr and Angel Guillen, with each of them now placed in good positions to make a deep run in the event.
My bladder just isn’t big enough for 150min… On a more positive note I managed to get from 20 to 55k… #eptbarcelona

In reality though, the bigger names in the field on average didn’t have a good day as we lost Jason Mercier, Jake Cody, Jonathon Duhamel, Vanessa Selbst, Theo Jorgensen and Liv Boeree. Each will now bemoan a poor start to the European Poker Tour Season ten and will hope to improve drastically for the next stop.

The remaining field will re-converge to the felt a little later on today and play through the bubble to establish who makes it into Day 4 and closer to the first EPT Main Event win of the season.
