EPT Barcelona – ME Down To 25, High Roller Begins

Coastline of Barcelona

The European Poker Tour is approaching the end of its season opening stop in Barcelona with the last two major events in the Main Event and High Roller getting ever closer to completion. Both events have proved to be record breakers on the EPT, meaning we are in for one cracking season.

Take a look at how both events played out yesterday:

EPT Barcelona Main Event Day 4 Haenraets Leading

The European Poker Tour Barcelona Main Event has now brought us our remaining 25 players after Day 4 saw that number reached from the 102 that had begun the day.

Bram Haenraets is the man with the chip lead going into the penultimate day of the event with a chip count of 4,395,000. With two days remaining however, he still has plenty of work to do, especially with 2013 PCA Main Event winner Dominik Panka being the biggest name left in the event.

Of the eliminations on Day 4, the biggest were that of Kimmo Kurko, Ryan Fee and Vojtech Ruzicka, who would have most likely jumped straight into the super huge EPT Barcelona High Roller below.

The Current Standings

1st) Bram Haenraets – 4,395,000

2nd) Piotr Sowinski – 4,355,000

3rd) Mikkel Nielsen – 3,135,000

EPT Barcelona High Roller Day 1 Largest EPT H.R Ever

So we have seen the largest ever Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event breaking the attendance record and now we are witnessing the largest ever EPT High Roller, not a bad start for Season 11 on the European Poker Tour. Day 1 brought in 378 registrations, which is more than some Day 1’s on previous Main Events and there is still plenty of time for that number to increase before the start of Day 2.

Going into Day 2 from Day 1 were 193 players with British professional Stephen Chidwick leading the chip counts with 299,000. He leads the likes of Dan Smith, Jason Mercier and Steve O’Dwyer in the top ten.

The event saw a number of eliminations with the most prominent of them being Martin Finger, Jeff Rossiter, Tobias Reinkemeier and Doug Polk.

The Current Standings

1st) Stephen Chidwick – 299,000

2nd) Dan Smith – 292,600
