The European Poker Tour Barcelona High Roller started yesterday and brought in a figure of 160 players to the felt for Day 1 of the event. The day was filled with high class poker, a footballing superstar and even a little bit of controversy thrown in.
Just 98 out of 160 remain, though with the registration period still open right up until the start of Day 2, that number is expected to be added to a little from new entries and others using their one allowed re-buy.
Right at the top of the chip counts is Ole Schemion after he bagged and tagged 393,600 at the end of the day, giving him a healthy lead over the rest of the field. Further back in the top ten are some other notable players, none more so than the Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique. Others included Sam Greenwood, Eugene Katchalov and David Benefield.
Finished day 1 of €10k high roller with 260k. Avg is 104k, a little over 80 people remain out of 160.

Even further back through the rankings were plenty of other highly recognisable players such as Philipp Gruissem, Chino Rheem, Dan Smith, Steve Silverman, Toby Lewis, Roger Hairabedian, Ilari Sahamies and Daniel Negreanu.
With regards to Negreanu though, it was his second bullet after a somewhat controversial scene in which he practically eliminated himself after a dealer made the decision to announce his card was dead in the previous hand. This can all be read about in further detail here.
Ended with 183k in high roller which got a nice turnout Blinds will be 1k/2k tomorrow

Eliminated On Day 1
Out on Day 1 went 62 players which included the EPT Barcelona Super High Roller winner Vitaly Lunkin, Jason Duval, Bertrand Grospellier, Davidi Kitai, Vanessa Selbst and Sergio Aido, though some may still be able to use their single re-buy before Day 2 starts up later today.
Couldn't get anything going on, was card dead and at a nit table and got unlucky… Busto #ontothenextone

Day 2 will start at 12pm local time and will hopefully see the remaining players reduced to just the final table, though this is not always the case. Check in with us tomorrow to see just who did manage to give them a very good chance of winning the EPT Barcelona High Roller.
