Day 2 at the prestigious European poker Tour London Main Event witnessed the field being whittled down, the prize pool information released and a bucketful of high octane poker being seen on the felt. The day started with 335 players that had progressed from their respective opening day flights and another 6 players bought in just before the start of the day.
However, after 231 eliminations, that number had been cut down to just 110 fortunate players that will now attempt to get through the bubble on Day 3 of this event.
Sitting at the top of a tough field is Tudor Purice who had a cracking day at the tables to build up a stack of 628,200. This now puts him in the best position to take home the largest share of the £2,929,400 prize pool which is to be shared among the top 87 finishers in this event. The winner will take home £560,980 whilst the minimum payout on offer is £9,080.
With regards to the notables that are still in with a chance at taking home this title, we have Paul Volpe, Kitty Kuo, Jeff Rossiter, Shannon Shorr, Dan Smith, Kyle Julius, Tom Middleton, Barry Greenstein, Mike Watson and Gaelle Baumann all progressing into Day 3.

It should be said that while they are all big names in the world of poker, it could be argued that even bigger names fell throughout Day 2. To the felt went Daniel Negreanu, Liv Boeree, Jason Mercier, Chris Brammer, Lex Veldhuis, Sam Trickett, Jeff Gross, Jake Cody, Vicky Coren, Russell Thomas and Toby Lewis.

OUT. I got it in with the best hand – but to be fair to the guy with K4 (!), I didn’t have many chips. Ah well. I tried hard; can’t do more.

The 110 will now have to navigate through the bubble on Day 3, knowing that only 87 of them will make a profit out of this event. We expect the start of Day 3 to be an edgy affair but once that bubble has burst it is sure to pick up its pace again.
