Day 2 in the European Poker Tour Sanremo Main Event again brought plenty of high octane poker action as the field was cut down in size from the 316 players that begun the day to the 115 that will now have to compete for the paying positions on Day 3 later today. There were no additional entries before the start of play so the prize pool was set at €2,480,872 and was to be shared among the top 79 players.
Lukas Berglund was by far the standout performer on Day 2 after bagging up an extremely impressive 700,600 chips. Despite his chip lead, with players such as Olivier Busquet and Dimitar Danchev in the top ten he will still be looking over his shoulder.
Further down the field are a whole host of other notable names that will now be coming back for Day 3. Among them are Dominik Nitsche and PokerStars Team Pros Johnny Lodden, Mickey Petersen, Victoria Coren, Alex Kravchenko and Victor Ramdin.
Through to day three!!! 115 of us are still in and coming back tomorrow; average chips about 142k and I have 163k. THAT'LL DO FINE.

With the money bubble now approaching many players will be disappointed to have busted out on Day 2. We lost Griffin Benger, Sorel Mizzi and PokerStars Team Pros Vanessa Selbst, Liv Boeree and Bertrand Grospellier to name but a few.
