The record breaking Estrellas Poker Tour Barcelona has now seen Day 2 of the event completed after the 558 survivors from the two opening day flights had to endure another ten levels of action. Once those levels were completed just 67 of them were alive to see Day 3 of the event.
That meant one hell of a lot of eliminations during the day, though many of them did make the paying places. In fact the top 263 players were set to be paid out in this event, with the winner set to pick up €298,600 for his efforts.
It is Marcelo Fonseca that stands the best chance of that right now as he has a total of 1,569,000 chips which is good enough to see him at the top of the chip counts. He is around 180,000 ahead of Milan Polke in second place, who will be looking to cut that gap on Day 3.
Each of the survivors will now be preparing for Day 3 which starts up a little later on, with each of them eyeing a place on that final table. A win here at the biggest ever freezeout event held by PokerStars will certainly look good on the resume, that’s for sure.
Arguably the biggest names that were eliminated on Day 2 were that of PokerStars Team Pros Angel Guillen and Christope De Meulder, with both of them tweeting their disappointment.
Out of the Estrellas Main… €2k Estrellas HR tomorrow, looking to improve my last year’s 5th place finish!

Day 3 will resume at 12pm local time here in Barcelona and will see that field reduced down to just the players that have done enough to take a seat at the final table. Be sure to check in with us to see who does in fact do just that.
