The Mashantucket, or Foxwoods Resort Casino has switched its alliance in the last few weeks. This extremely prestigious casino was up until earlier in the year a regular stop on the World Poker Tours calendar.
However that relationship ended after a long and successful 10 year stint, with the World Series Of Poker now stepping in to give this casino a poker home once more. In fact the World Series Of Poker will be making good use of it as early as arch the 27th next year where they have scheduled a stop until the 8th of April.
The Foxwoods Director of Operations Terry Chiaradio said “the Foxwoods Casino is by far the premier casino and poker room in the North of America; we supply highly trained professional staff and offer continuous poker play throughout the year” he then added “Foxwoods will make the perfect partner for the World Series Of Poker”.
“The new agreement we have in place with the World Series Of Poker which is the cream of the crop of poker brands, will go hand in hand with our aim of providing only the best poker tournaments for our loyal players”
The stop next year in March will include a selection of 12 events which will take place over 12 days, the Main Event will also give the winner not just the first place payout but also a seat in next year’s WSOP National Championships to be held in New Orleans. Additionally, other seats for that event will be won by players who manage to accumulate the most points in the other 12 WSOP events throughout the year.
The new WSOP circuit actually begins in Biloxi, Miss at the famous IP Casino resort.
Originally, Foxwoods was one of the charter members of the World Poker Tour. However, Foxwoods decided to sever all ties with the tour. They also parted ways with Bernard Lee, a professional poker player that the casino employed in 2010; his role was to be the official spokesperson for the poker room at the casino.
Foxwoods boasts almost 100 poker tables and has the ability to host some very large poker events and is in fact the largest on the east coast of America. They host poker tournaments 7 days a week and every day of the month, with payouts usually in the range of $200,000.
This new partnership will go a long way to cementing their position as one of the best poker rooms in America. So we will certainly be looking forward to that event come March next year, and the many more that are set to follow.
