The GPI Player Of The Year Race!

Though the top 300 tournament players is being headed by Dan Smith, the current leader for the player of the year prize in 2013 is now Mike Watson. He has stormed to the top of the early leader board, replacing Dan Shak, who was during the early part of the year.

Shak had earned that place at the top after a very good performance during the Aussie Millions in January, yet he has been replaced by Watson after an impressive run of three final tables so far this year.

He finished third in the $25k PCA High Roller, won a side event at the Aussie Millions and also came third in another side event at the same tournament.

The player who is now sitting in second place in the race is Vladimir Troyanovski, after he has enjoyed a very fruitful 2013 so far with regards to poker tournaments. He won a side event at the recently played out EPT Deauville, finished as a runner up in the $25k High Roller in the PCA’s and then went on to finish in seventh place in the $100k Super high Roller in the very same series.

This race has a long way to go but it is looking very good so far for the players in and around the top ten. They know that if they can keep up their early year form they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the year.

The Current Top Ten!
