GPI Update – Selbst Still Top

first place

The Global Poker Index have recently revealed their latest update for both their Top 300 ranked live tournament poker players in the world and their Player of the Year rankings. It has revealed that PokerStars Team Pro Vanessa Selbst remains as the number one ranked tournament player whilst fellow Team Pro Daniel Negreanu has forced himself back into the running for the Player of the Year.

With the World Series of Poker giving plenty of opportunities for the rankings to swap and change, we expected quite a bit to change this time around. This was the case throughout the rankings apart from right at the top where it matters.

The GPI Top 300 saw a few changes in the current top ten with Erik Seidel, Stephen Chidwick and Alex Bilokur all moving up one spot whilst Philipp Gruissem dropped down one place.

This time around there were ten new entries into the top 33 with the likes of Jake Schwartz, Phil Laak, Robert Mizrachi and Barny Boatman all forcing their way into the rankings.

As for the biggest leap up the rankings this time, that was achieved by Brian Rast who climbed 116 places to sit in 1689th place. Others with big gains included Greg Mueller and Dan Kelly.
