Full Tilt Poker who are now under the ownership of PokerStars have announced that their first sponsored pro for the site will be Gus Hansen. The site is about to be re-launched early next month and Hansen has agreed to come back and represent them.
Hansen is widely known to be one of the best poker players on the planet, not just because f one event but because he is known as a master of practically all the different variations of poker. Throughout his career he has already recorded earnings of $11.2 million on the felt.
With him already being sponsored by Full Tilt in the past, PokerStars felt it would be the right move to bring him back in, so much so that they want him to be the face of the once popular poker site.
Having brokered a deal with the Department Of Justice in America to reimburse each and every single poker player that had their accounts frozen during the demise of the previous Full Tilt, PokerStars have been working extremely hard behind the scenes to get not only the payers played but the site back up and running again.
Part of the deal with the DOJ was that they would have all non-US players refunded before the re-launch of the site. That is slowly happening, though it is a difficult process having to negotiate with each countries government regarding the regulations and practicalities of achieving it.
Most of the world will be able to log back into their original accounts the day Full Tilt re-opens, though many countries have changed their laws regarding online poker since Black Friday which is proving to be a little bit of a stumbling block.
The Site To Retain Its Identity!
PokerStars have stated that they intend to keep Full Tilt as its own separate entity and will in fact keep the same layout, skins, tables and formats. Even the tournaments will be the same as they were. They say that the players will still receive that high quality of poker action they once had before, though this time it will be run by a reputable company.
Gus Hansen himself has come out and said that he is honored to be given the chance to represent the site that he loves. He claims it feels like he is coming home and states that they have the best community as well as the software.
We here certainly cannot wait for the re-birth. PokerStars have done the poker community a huge benefit by re-launching the site that was once their main adversary.
