The World Series of Poker usually grabs all of the tournament headlines in Las Vegas during the summer months but one event at another casino has pushed PokerStars Team Pro Jason Mercier into the top ten career earners of all time from live poker tournaments.
The event was the Bellagio $100k Summer High Roller that also attracted the likes of Jason Somerville, Doug Polk, David Sands and eventual winner Dan Smith.
Mercier actually ended up finishing in second place but because the top four of him, Dan Smith, Tom Marchese and Jason Somerville decided to chop the prize pool, each were guaranteed more than a million.
Merciers’ cut was $1,622,181 which is actually his largest ever score despite coming in second place. It was also enough to see him overtake Jamie Gold and move into tenth place on the all time earners list with $12,248,202. He is only around $3k ahead of gold but he is also only around $200k behind fellow PokerStars Team Pro Jonathan Duhamel in 9th.
With there still plenty of events at the WSOP still to go, there is a good chance he could pass Duhamel and a few others depending on how much he wins.
