Cannes is staging the next big poker tournament on the calendar with the $8,500 buy-in Partouche Poker Tour Open. Many of the world’s biggest poker names have already signed up such as Michael Mizrachi, Pius Heinz, Vanessa Selbst and Jonathan Duhamel.

There were a total of 326 entrants for Day 1a, though the player that finished up in front of them all was the Italian poker professional Marcelo Marigliano who racked up 187,300 in chips by the time the day had finished.

Other of the more notable survivors going into Day 2 was players such as Leo Margets, Jens Kyllonen, Justin Bonomo, and Dominik Nitcshe. These players were among a total of 155 that made it to the next day’s play.

When the second flight of Day 1 gets underway there is expected to be another flurry of the world’s best poker players including Phil Ivey, Sam Trickett, Liv Boeree and Patrik Antonius taking to the felt.

2012 World Championship Of Online Poker Kicks Off!

On Sunday we were brought the biggest yearly online tournament from PokerStars with the 2012 World Championship Of Online Poker. This tournament which is known as the WSOP of the online world has already attracted thousands of players to the first few of the scheduled 80 online events.

Of the events that have been played so far Mark “RenRad01” Darner was to be one of the first winners banking a very nice $144,000 by winning Event Number 5. Though the biggest prize won so far went to “ASIAAN” who scooped nearly a quarter of a million with $231,221 in Event Number 2.

Event Number 1 was the $215 NLHE two day event which managed to attract a mind boggling 7,300 entrants which created a massive prize pool of $1,464,400. The winner emerged as Argentinean player “ezepoker90” who took home $184,388.82.
