PCA Canada Cup – Noseworthy Is Win-Worthy

On an action packed day at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure yesterday, the invitation only Canada Cup was played out too. The eventual winner as you may well already know by the title was Danny Noseworthy.

He nailed down the win after beating Joseph Stiers heads up after coming into the final table as the chip leader and carrying his momentum right the way through until victory. Noseworthy has been an established player for some time now with many cashes around the world, including a few at the World Series of Poker.

Three Remaining!

By the time we were just left with three players, they all begun to start talking about a chop of the prize pool. They eventually came to an agreement whereby the largest slice would go to the then chip leader Kyle Myers, with the remaining $5,400 being put aside for the winner.

They started to relax after this, knowing that they have already sewn up a decent score each, they started to get the drinks in and have a good time.

Kyle would have been pleased that he made this deal, because although he was the chip leader when the agreement was made, he would be the first of the three to be eliminated. That left us with Danny Noseworthy and Joseph Stiers to do battle for the title and that extra $5k.

These two actually went at it for the best part of an hour, with Stiers leading for most of the time. However, Noseworthy was always looking for the right spot to double up and he eventually found one. This changed the complexion of the match as Stiers was now crippled badly and in need of a double up himself.

He eventually got it all-in whilst holding the K-9 but found his opponent holding the A-7, Noseworthy hit two pair on the flop and was already celebrating before the turn and river came down. He took home $40,417 for his days work and had a thoroughly good time whilst achieving it.

Part of the prize for the top three players in this event was a ticket into Day 1b of the Main Event which kicks off later today. That means Danny, Kyle and the super aggressive Joseph will now be getting ready for their next event at the PCA.

They will each be hoping that they can carry the good form that they each showed in this event in the bigger and better Main Event. They will not have it as easy though, with some of the world’s best players looking to add the major title to their C.V’s.
