Day 1a of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure was concluded not too long ago, with 320 players taking to the felt for the first flight. This event was being played alongside the final table of the Super High Roller which was won by Scott Seiver, as well as various other side events. This is why the attendance for the first day was a little low, however as usual Day 1b is the day when a huge field is expected.
The chip leader by the end of the day was the Italian Maxim Lobzhanidze who managed to turn his 30k starting stack into a very healthy 248,900. That’s not a bad achievement, considering his only ever cash in a big event was just $8,000, if he manages to keep this momentum going he stands to make a hell of a lot more than that.
He is a good 33k ahead of his closest rival right now in Gilbert Diaz who is sitting on 215,900, though in reality that is small change. He will have to keep his game right up if he truly wants to end this event with a good score.
Other Notables Through To Day 2!
Other players that managed to navigate their way into Day 2 included a bunch of PokerStars Team Pros George Danzer, Joe Cada and the ever talkative Ville Wahlbeck. However, there was also a load of Team Pros that didn’t survive the day, including Marcel Luske, Randy Lew, Juan Manuel Pastor, Barry Greenstein and the super aggressive Lex Veldhuis.
In fact by the end of the day there were only 150 out of the 320 that made it through, though we are expecting a number of them to re-buy back in later today for Day 1b.
The Current Standings!
Maxim Lobzhanidze – 248,900
Gilbert Diaz – 215,900
Darren Elias – 191,000
Paul Volpe – 186,200

We are already looking forward to the second flight of Day 1, with the field set to be a very large one. It has been a busy day at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, with a whole host of events being played out, so we expect a lot of those players to be buying into the Main Event today.
We will bring you a report on Day 1b as soon as we have it, so make sure you keep checking with us if you plan to stay up to date with this event.
