The second day of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure has just come to an end, with the session being over in supersonic time. There were a total of 501 players returning to the felt, which would be dramatically reduced to just the 172 who safely made it into Day 3.
The player who goes into the third day at the top of the pile is Nicolas Godoy, who built up a nice stack of 724,200, which is nearly 200k ahead of Darren Elias in second. Michael Mizrachi is still there too, with him sitting in third place with 540,700 chips.
Phelps Dives Out!
Of the players that we lost today, one was the Olympic Gold medal record holder Michael Phelps. The retired Olympian just missed out on the pay by a couple of places. He was joined on the felt by some other big name casualties such as $100k Super High Roller runner up David Sands, PokerStars Team Pros Angel Guillen, Christophe de Meulder, Victor Ramdin, Liv Boeree, Nacho Barbero and the man himself Daniel Negreanu.
You can also add Phil Ivey on that list that came into the day as one of the short stacks and really didn’t last too long. Another Phil to perish on Day 2 was Hellmuth, to further show the strength of the players in this event. Dan Smith and Eli Elezra were too other big names that couldn’t quite get the breaks to see them into Day 3.
In total there were supposed to be six levels of play during Day 2, but due to the speed at which players were falling, the organisers decided to end the session early. In fact it finished a good hour and a half earlier than planned, simply because the bubble was already approaching, with 144 players being paid.
Last Longer Promotion!
On a side note, those of you that took part in the Last Longer Deposit promotion, in which you had to pick a PokerStars Team Pro that you thought would last the longest in this event, you should be informed that there are now just qualifying two runners left. It is going to be between Eugene Katchalov and Fatmina Moreira de Melo, with the former holding the most chips at this precise moment.
