Having only been in the game for a relatively short period since 2010, Jake Cody has quickly established himself as one of the games most accomplished players. During his first year as a ‘live’ professional he won the EPT Deauville and WPT London to bring him close to $1.5 million in winnings from both events combined. This meant that he was just a WSOP title away from being one of a very few number of players to win the “Triple Crown” of an EPT title, WPT title and WSOP title.
This final ingredient was soon added as he took down the $25k Heads-Up event in the 2011 World Series of Poker. This also made him the youngest player to have won the “Triple Crown”. He initially started out online with and an alleged single deposit of just $10 and never needed to deposit ever again. He built up a good bankroll online after dedicating 12 hours a day to the game.
This bankroll is what allowed him to start taking part in some local UK tournaments such as the UK & Ireland Poker Tour in which he enjoyed a high amount of success. He has claimed two UKIPT titles to go with his Triple Crown thus far. This success led to Cody being snapped up by PokerStars to become a PokerStars Team Pro and has also meant that his career earnings thus far from live tournaments is just over $3,500,000.
The young man from Rochdale in the UK has certainly proven to be one of the most exciting up and coming players in the world, though after what he has already achieved it seems a little off claiming he is up and coming. However, at such a young age there is still so much that he can go on to achieve. One thing is for certain, the name Jake Cody is one that we should all get used to hearing about on a regular occasion in the future on the world poker scene.
