When you think of the most prominent women in world poker today, the name of Vanessa “Lady Maverick” Rousso has to be up there within the top five.
She was born in New York back in 1983 and it was during her college days that she discovered she had a great talent for any game that was strategy based such as chess and poker.
Vanessa quit law school in order to become a full time poker professional. This as we know was a good decision as she now ranks in the top four all time winnings made from poker tournaments by a woman.
Her career has quickly seen her climb the poker ranks both online and live and it wasn’t too long before success came her way. This success led to her becoming a PokerStars Team Pro, alongside the likes of Daniel Negreanu and Barry Greenstein.
Her largest career online score was during the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker in which she finished second in the Main Event for a payout of $700,782.50. Whilst her biggest live tournament score came when she took home $749,467 for her win in the European Poker Tour Monte Carlo €25,000 High Roller Championship.
She has also amassed 15 World Series of Poker cashes throughout her poker career, but is yet to lay claim to her first bracelet. Although she has earned just over $3,500,000 in career earnings from ‘live’ tournaments, she is still also yet to take home a World Poker Tour title, though at such a young age there is still plenty of time to do so.

We expect big things from Rousso over the next few years as there are not many poker players that work as hard as she does on the circuit. WSOP Bracelet in 2014? We dare you to bet against it.
