Julien Nuijten Wins Latin American Poker Tour Rio

Being on holiday in Rio de Janeiro is enough for most people to be enjoying themselves. Not for nineteen year-old Julien Nuijten though, who decided he should play the first ever PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour event. One tournament and 313 also-rans later, and Mr Nuijten left almost $223,000 richer.

Nuijten entered the final table as the chip leader, with twice as many chips as Vitaly Kovyazin in second place. With so many of the chips in play held by the pair, it wasn’t too surprising to find them heads-up for the title. Nuijten eventually won all the chips, and with it $222,940. That should pay for a few more holidays to Brazil.

The final placings were:

1. Julien Nuijten - $222,940

2. Vitaly Kovyazin - $117,750

3. Nikolai Senninger - $86,350

4. Alex Brenes - $62,800

5. Eduardo Henriques - $47,100

6. Oliver Kugler - $31,400

7. Rafael Pardo - $23,550

8. Juan Carlos Burguillos - $15,700

9. Severin Walser - $11,775
