Tuesday 22nd April 2008 Doyle Brunson and Patrik Antonius to Play High Stakes Golf, Too!
The rivalry between Doyle Brunson and Patrik Antonius looks like it may spill over to the golf course, if Doyle has his way. In a recent blog, Doyle talked about the heads-up poker challenge, as well as issuing a new one to the young Finn.
It appears to some that Doyle is a little irritated by the speculation and talk revolving around the heads-up challenge, as well as people asking him if he thinks he can win or not. Fired up from the challenge, Doyle has issued another challenge to Antonius – a golf match between the two players for $100,000 a hole. The match is to be held at the Bali Hai Golf Club, and could take place any time over the summer until August.
Brunson is bullish about his chances, saying 'surely a twenty-seven year old ex-professional tennis player from Finland can beat a seventy-four-year-old guy with an artificial shoulder and who has to use a crutch to walk.' What we do know is that Brunson is one of the shrewdest men in poker, and so obviously feels he has an edge there. Like the poker match, it is sure to make compelling viewing.
