Thursday 22nd May 2008 Betfair signs Tabatabai
Betfair has announced it has taken another step in its quest to build up a formidable roster of young poker players by signing 23-year-old John Tabatabai.
The young poker star from Cardiff was thrust into the limelight when he battled his now fellow Betfair team mate Annette Obrestad to the last in the World Series of Poker Europe 2007.
Originally a chess player, Tabatabai turned to poker at university and since his clash with Obrestad has distinguished himself by winning a major event in South Africa.
Director of Poker, Bruce Stubbs, had a number of positive things to say about Tabatabai.
"Like our other young guns, John is making things happen right now, and we expect great things from him," he remarked.
Bodog has also been on the hunt for fresh talent and has recently announced the addition of Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo to their ranks. Bonomo is the youngest player to sit at a televised European Poker table at just 19 in 2005.
