Friday 23rd May 2008 Young European Poker Players On The Increase
A combined survey by JupiterResearch and Everest Poker has thrown up some rather surprising facts about the take up of Poker across Europe. Of the 3,000 Poker players questioned it seems that the largest growth has been seen in the 18-24 year olds in Europe, with 41% of players questioned found to be in that age range against only 17% from last year’s survey.<br />

While there are no suggestions as to why there has been such a large increase in the presence of this age group, it may have something to do with the online revolution as more younger people are looking to experience the thrills of online and offline Poker.<br />

There were also some useful statistics with regards to the take up of Poker amongst woman in Europe, with Spanish woman Poker players now representing 44% (compared to 16% in 2007) of the Poker population in the country. Italy has also seen an impressive increase in this figure rising from 18% in 2007 to 34% in 2008 – unfortunately there are no figures available for the UK.<br />
<br />
It also seems as though the Nordic markets have matured a lot faster than their central European counterparts with woman Poker player numbers in the high 30s and 40s for some time in place such as Norway, Finland and Sweden.
