Friday 23rd May 2008 Halfrek moves further ahead of OPOY field
Internet poker player Halfrek made his lead at the top of Card Player's online player of the year (OPOY) table even more comfortable this week.
The online superstar, who has shot to fame in the last month, now has a 462-point gap between himself and Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron in second.
He achieved the margin by scoring 16 points at the Pokerstars Super Tuesday tournament, in which he finished 19th.
Halfrek becomes the first person to make it through the 4,000 barrier for this season with 4,008.
The total is close to half the score achieved by Baron when he won the title last year.
Not much is known about Halfrek, who hails from Scandinavia but remains anonymous.
His rise to the top of the online poker world has been incredibly fast and many people are wondering who is behind the screen-name.
Another player attracting similar attention is philivey567, who by all appearances is new to the internet scene, but plays like an established professional.
