World Poker Tour Set To Move TV Channels Again

In a move which has surprised both World Poker Tour Enterprises and many observers of the sector it seems as though the World Poker Tour may well be looking for a new TV channel home after the Game Show Network (GSN) decided to end its association with Poker. While the World Poker Tour had been struggling of late to find a new media partner, with the move from the Travel Channel to GSN, many though the relationship with GSN was working with Poker among their top rated programs. The GSN also showed, and created, the ever popular ‘High Stakes Poker’ program but again this has not yet been renewed and appears to be very much in limbo. It seems very strange that a network would decide to affectively dump two of its best performing shows, but for some reason the GSN management has decided to look elsewhere for the future. Despite this set back there are still signs that Poker on TV is growing in popularity and the WSOP tournament final later this year may turn out to be the largest TV audience of all time for the sport. Despite obvious disappointment with the cancellation of the TV deal, the World Poker Tour should hopefully find a new home very soon.
