World Series Of Poker Bracelet For Online Giant

Event #28 at this year’s World Series of Poker was always going to be an action game – Pot Limit Omaha is itself called ‘the action game’ and any tournament with rebuys is set to see excitement.

The ability to rebuy sees the prize pool swell and the bad beats become harsher as people take more risky lines with their hands, knowing they will not be out of the tournament. Daniel Negreanu, for instance, was invested to the tune of $85,000 owing to his huge amount of rebuys. He final tabled in the black, however, taking home over $100,000.

The winner was Phil Galfond, a superb online player also known by his Full Tilt handle of OMGClayAiken. He bested possibly the toughest final table in WSOP history, one that included poker virtuosos such as Johnny Chan, John Juanda, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and David Benyamine. The hand that netted him the bracelet and $817,781 came when he made two pair on the turn of a AQ86 board with A765 against Hourani’s AKJT.
