Is It Fair To Compare Business And Poker?

As the popularity of poker continues to grow in many countries around the world, a number of surveys are comparing the qualities required in business and those for poker, suggesting that they are very similar. But are the two that closely linked or is this just fools play?<br /> <br /> While there are a number of characteristics which are useful in poker and in business, such as the skill of knowing how high to push a deal, when to go all in and indeed when to even join the fray, this is not the main factor. When you are playing poker you are actually playing with your own money, but unless you are the owner of a business, you would not be playing with your own money and the financial risks to you are not comparable.<br /> <br /> Just because someone can spot a good deal or a niche in the market does not make them a great or potentially great poker player. Poker is a skill which can be taught up to a certain level but the top players seem to have that X-factor, that little extra which takes them to a different level. Business and poker may well be closely associated, but a skill in one area does not always translate into the other, be warned!
