David Woo Woos The Crowds At WSOP

While he may be a professional poker player, David Woo will remember yesterday as a major point in his professional life, the day he took home his first WSOP gold bracelet. Woo also pocketed a hefty $631,550 in prize money for Event number 39 at the 2008 WSOP. But it seems as though it was not all plain sailing for the bracelet winner.<br /> <br /> Interestingly this $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament attracted the second largest field of WSOP 2008 so far. The 2,720 entrants created a prize pool of some $3,712,800 and allowed the organisers to make prize payments to 270 players, but Woo was the man who took the headlines.<br /> <br /> It was actually Thom Werthmann who came to the table in the lead on the final day of this 3 day event, with 1,600,000 in chips against Woo’s 1,090,000. While Werthmann is actually a past WSOP bracelet winner he could not follow through on his good work and ended up a disappointing fifth at the end of the event. These 3 day events take a mixture of skill, focus and the ability to concentrate on the table at all times. But then again, you would not expect WSOP to give away their bracelets!
