'Rizen' Leaves UltimateBet

On the back of a recent superuser scandal which is breaking at UltimateBet, Eric ‘Rizen’ Lynch was brought on board to represent the poker room. Only moments after he had signed, Lynch was revealed in his blog that he is leaving UltimateBet almost as suddenly as he had signed for them.

The initial blog post didn’t divulge too many reasons for his departure, saying:

'After a lot of reflection and thought, I have decided to separate myself from the UltimateBet brand. I hope that everyone will respect my privacy, as I wish to not go into the decision in any great detail at this time. At this point in time I just believe that the things I’m trying to accomplish in my career are not in sync with the UltimateBet brand.

It was not an easy decision, and I would like to thank Annie and everyone else at UB for taking time out of their busy schedules at the World Series of Poker to talk to me about many things as I worked through my decision. They were extremely gracious with their time and extremely understanding and I cannot thank them enough for that.'

It was only later that the motivations behind Lynch’s exit were explained.

'My main points of contention (and I outlined this very clearly for them) had to do with the way the signing of (Johnny) Bax and myself was handled as well as much of the handling in the press that was going on or is going to go on. I was also upset that the guarantees on the new tournament schedule are being lowered and that it was taking longer than I would have liked for some things I had been promised to be taken care of.

Since my main thesis behind joining in the first place was that UB had all their ducks in a row and that going forward they had all the pieces in place to make sure everything was handled smoothly and correctly, when doubts started to surface around that thesis I had to start to re-evaluate it. I had a few discussions with many people I respect and a heart to heart with my wife since obviously this decision had some big financial implications for my family.'

The move will obviously be damaged to UltimateBet, who signed the star in a bid to reassure some of the online community that they are still one of the best places to play online.
