Players stall to reach day two of WSOP main event

The main event of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is well underway yet recent reports suggest some players were stalling towards the end of day one in an attempt to ensure that they did not drop out.

A hand played in the blue section took over ten minutes yet did not even stretch past the flop.

Players desperate to win the $9,119,517 (£4,555,000) first prize reportedly tried to drag out the later hands so that they would make the next round.

However, their competitors were less than impressed with the tactics, eventually calling over a floorperson to complain about the delay.

Two of the gamblers in question were then clocked by the official and allowed only 30 seconds to make a decision until the end of the night.

The event - which has been whittled down to the last 1,386 players - is currently led by Dylan Linde, who has a stash of 146,000 chips.
