Recession? Not At The 2008 WSOP

As the first part of the WSOP 2008 comes to a close, with the last 666 entrants to the main event set to be confirmed over the next few days, it has been announced that this is the largest ever prize fund for any poker tournament in the world. The total prize pool for WSOP 2008 is a colossal $180,676,248 with more than $64,000,000 of that being used to reward all 666 who make it to the final event, and over $9 million to the eventual winner.<br /> <br /> As the gambling industry comes under more and more pressure around the world, the fact that WSOP is able to swim against the tide is testimony to the place the tournament holds in the hearts of poker players. This is THE event they all wait for, this is THE event which captures the hearts and minds of all poker players and fans around the world and it is growing. Will next year be bigger and better?
