WSOP Day 3: The 'Mighty' Fall, while Champions Begin to Rise

Of the 1,307 players who returned for Day 3, only 666 of them would end up going home with any money. On the first amalgamated day in the Main Event, the monster chip leader was Brian Schaedlich, who began with over 750,000 in chips. However, as Schaedlich found out, you need to have the chips at the end of the tournament for it to really matter. Shaedlich's monster stack managed to dissipate over the day, and while he made it to Day 4, he won't be needing a rack to move his 22,000 to the new table.

The bubble was burst with the elimination of Steve Chung, the one who gets the loudest applause as he busts out of the tournament. However he can take some solace in the fact that his seat at next year's WSOP Main Event is already confirmed, courtesy of Harrah's.

While some big names ended up hitting the rail today, several recognised pros will be joining us for Day 4, including two of the game's powerhouses. Phil Hellmuth and Johnny Chan will both be looking to add to their Main Event victories, an achievement which elevate either of them to the top of the poker Olympus.
