Hellmuth out of WSOP main event

Phil Hellmuth has been eliminated from the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event after six days of action.

The Poker Brat, who was in the hunt for his 12th WSOP bracelet and second main event victory, made it inside the top 50 before being eliminated when his ace-queen failed to improve against a pair of jacks.

Mike Matusow is another top player who was knocked out last night.

He went home in 30th place and received $193,000.

Other big name casualties from the weekend include Gus Hansen, Jeff Madsen, Allen Cunningham and Steve Davis - the six-time world snooker champion - who did the best out of all the celebrity competitors.

Craig Marquis and Dennis Phillips are the two leaders, ahead of Poker News journalist Tiffany Michelle.

Brandon Cantu and Phi Nguyen are the last of the major titlists to remain in the competition. Cantu is in the middle of the pack, while Nguyen is among the short stacks.
