Final nine in WSOP main event confirmed

The 6,844-man field in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event has been whittled to down to a final table of nine.

Dennis Phillips will be the man returning for the tournament's conclusion on November 9th in the lead. He holds 26.296 million chips.

Ivan Demidov lies in second with 24.4 million, followed by Scott Montgomery (19.69 million), Peter Eastgate (18.375 million), Ylon Schwartz (12.525 million) and Darus Suharto (12.52 million).

David Rheem, Craig Marquis and Kelly Kim take up the remaining final table places, with 10.23 million, 10.21 million and 2.62 million chips respectively.

Phi Nguyen and Brandon Cantu, the only two players still in contention last night to have won major poker titles before, were eliminated in 26th and 20th.

Tiffany Michelle made it the furthest out of the female players, with her run coming to an end in 17th.

The final table will be shown on ESPN on November 11th, two days after it takes place.
