Has ladies Poker Got Much Growth Left?

The last couple of years have seen the ladies poker sector spring up from nowhere and go from strength to strength. The number of ladies taking up poker at the moment is far greater than new male players entering the sport, but then again ladies poker is still at a fairly early stage of development. As the economy continues to struggle, can ladies poker numbers hold up? The simple answer is yes. Quick to spot what could well turn out to be a very lucrative area of the poker industry there are a number of sites offering ladies only gaming facilities and sponsorships for the likes of WSOP 2008. It was interesting to see that the WSOP 2008 TV crews were chatting about the possibility of placing ‘last lady standing’ Tiffany Michelle at the centre of their PR campaign ahead of the main event final table in November. As it happened, Tiffany Michelle fell just short of the final table but it seems as though glamour will play a part in the future of the poker industry. There are a number of male poker players that seem to have discounted the level of play being achieved in the ladies game, and some of them may well be in for a big shock sooner rather than later!
