Moss v Dandolos happened, says Brunson

Doyle Brunson is fully satisfied that the famous poker match-up between Johnny Moss and Nick Dandolos was not made up.

In his blog, the Texas Dolly cited the son of Benny Binion - who is reputed to have arranged the five-month game - as confirming that the match did happen, although not all of the tales around it are completely accurate.

"I talked to my friend, Jack Binion, and he told me they did play and the stories might be exaggerated a little but Moss beat Nick and made him quit," Brunson wrote.

Despite being 74 years of age, the legendary 1949 contest is a little before the ten-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion's era, although he did do battle with Moss on several occasions during his career.

Indeed, both men took part in the first WSOP, also arranged by Binion, in 1970.

Moss was voted the winner of the main event and went on to take the title another two times, while Brunson was also victorious in poker's most prestigious competition twice during the decade.
