Fox To Broadcast ClubWPT.com

In America, World Poker Tour (WPT) Enterprises Incorporated has announced a deal with Fox Sports Net to create a television series based on its ClubWPT.com subscription and sweepstakes games offering. Launched in February, ClubWPT.com is a subscription-based Internet club and gaming platform that targets the estimated 60 million poker players in the US that are restricted from wagering online due to the Unlawful Internet gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) of 2006. Operated under US sweepstakes rules, ClubWPT.com offers daily poker and blackjack events for a monthly subscription of $19.95. Players receive points to play in over 4,000 live tournaments, sit-n-go’s and ring games for a chance at winning in excess of $100,000 in cash and prizes each month including $10,000 seats into World Poker Tour main events. Members also receive additional benefits including magazine subscriptions and travel and entertainment discounts in Las Vegas. This latest deal follows the announcement that Fox, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, will be broadcasting Season VII of the World Poker Tour beginning next month. Players will battle it out playing blackjack and poker at ClubWPT.com for a chance at appearing on the show with each weekly episode broadcast nationally featuring a new final table with online qualifiers competing on the felt for cash prizes. “Fox Sports Network takes pride in its progressive approach to programming and is pleased to be the new home for the World Poker Tour,” said George Greenberg, Executive Vice-President of Programming and Production for Fox Sports Net. “The WPT is synonymous with big event poker and is a firmly established household brand. The marriage is perfect.” “Fox Sports Net is a reigning media giant whose unparalleled energy and resources will benefit ClubWPT.com on a whole new level,” said Steve Lipscomb, President and Chief Executive Officer for WPT Enterprises.
