John Phan Takes Down Legends Of Poker Championship

International poker pro John ‘Razor’ Phan, recently the winner of two WSOP bracelets in 2008, has once again taken down a major tournament – this time for over $1,000,000. In the 2008 World Series of Poker, Phan won the $3,000 No Limit Hold ‘em event for $439k and the $5,000 2-7 Triple Draw event for $151k. Now these last three victories take his total tournament earnings to $5.3m – nice work if you can get it. Heads-up was a rollercoaster ride, with both Phan and eventual runner-up Amit Makhijah played intensely skilled poker. Phan pulled ahead with a massive four-to-one chip lead but amazingly Makhijah pulled back to reclaim the lead. Eventually, though, Makhijah found himself coming up short, albeit netting $563,720 for his efforts.
