Brian Townsend Admits Using Multi-Accounting

Professional poker player Brian Townsend has been admitted to an act which is seen as treason by many in the poker industry, multi-accounting. This practice involves setting up more than one account on a poker website and using the aliases to gain extra exposure and hide your identity. The practice is legal but seen by many poker players as immoral and the lowest form of deceit. Brian Townsend has admitted to holding multiple accounts at both FullTiltPoker.com and PokerStars.com although he has refuted allegations that he used the aliases to gain multiple entries to tournaments. He claims that he only used the secondary accounts to play in low level games, allowing him to remain anonymous to those playing against him. While Brian Townsend is not the first professional poker player to be caught with multiple accounts on the same site he was quick to admit to the practice when suspicions started to circle. As a warning to others tempted to practice multiple accounting Townsend has been suspended from the FullTiltPoker.com Red Pro program for six months although PokerStars.com has yet to announce the action it will be taking. Professional poker players are often held up as beacons of the industry and can carry the reputation of the industry wherever they go.
