Wednesday 3rd September 2008 WSOP Main Event To Be Broadcast Tonight
The tournament field with the most competitors of any poker event and the bracelet with more prestige than any other – the World Series of Poker Main Event; $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em, is to be broadcast on ESPN tonight from 5pm PT.
The massive 6,844 field saw the need for four Day 1s of 1,297; 1,158; 1,928 and 2,461 of which 657; 623; 1,071 and 1,386 survived. ESPN will show the action down to the final nine, who in a still-controversial decision have not yet played for the top prize.
To maximise TV coverage, the final table will not be played out until November 9, where the nine players will play down to two before heads-up play finally finishes the event on November 10.
First prize is over $9,000,000.
