Poker nut wants to smash poker playing record

David Cain is a British poker player with one goal in life, to break the record for the most consecutive hours of poker played in one sitting. The current record is 72 hours which was set by Larry Olmsted of the US who went on to write a book about his surreal experience. So what does it entail? Simple, sit around a poker table playing poker for as long as possible and see if you can beat 72 hours.....well it is not quite that simple! If the experiences of Larry Olmsted are anything to go by then David Cain needs to be aware of how hard it actually is to play poker for over 72 hours non-stop. After a few hours boredom will start to kick in and your body will start to stiffen up. As the pressure builds and the stress increases there will be mistakes, there will be missed opportunities but this is not really the name of the game. Larry Olmsted started playing 50c Seven Card Stud and by the end of his mammoth 72 hour stint he was up over $1,000. However, he was delirious by the end, he could not read his cards as his eyes were going, in brief he was a physical wreck but he did it. David Cain is a brave man to be taking on such a challenge, but at least his winning pot (and a percentage of that won by his opponents) will be going to charity.
