Sunday 21st September 2008 WSOPE is off and running
The next couple of weeks should see poker fever hit the UK with the start of the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) which is to be held at the Empire Casino in Leicester Square, London. The whole area is set to be taken over by the UK poker community and those visitors from overseas. But will we see as much action as last year? Will it be as successful?

The early signs are that numbers are up, prize money is flying high again and this year should see the best turnout yet in one of Europe’s premium Cities. The events taking place are as follows :-

19 September Event #1 £1,500 No-limit Hold’em (of a four day event)
22 September Event #2 £2,500 H.O.R.S.E. (three day event)
24 September Event #3 £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha (three day event)
27 September Event #4 £10,000 WC No-limit Hold’em (five day event)

Last year saw the career of 18 year old starlet Annette Obrestad kick off after she banked the £1 million prize fund. She bagged the largest prize ever won by a female player and she will be there to do it all again this year as the defending champion.
