Americans Playing More Poker

New York-based online gaming site DuplicatePoker.com has announced that Americans are playing more poker since the current global financial crisis began. The legal online poker website revealed that its traffic and gameplay has risen 25 percent since rumours of Lehman Brothers' collapse began circulating just over a week ago. “Website traffic is up 25 percent, duration of play is up 16 percent to 2.45 hours per player and total sums wagered and won are up 20.6 percent,” said Daniel Flamberg, Chief Marketing Officer for DuplicatePoker.com. 'At a time when we are all worried about our money and generally feel helpless, it looks like Americans are seeking solace in a game they know and love, where the rules are clear, the action is transparent and the outcome can be affected by our own skills.” DuplicatePoker.com was launched in June of last year and revealed that it is one of the fastest growing online poker communities, recently registering its 250,000th player. The site now has active players on five continents and is growing at a rate of 20 percent monthly. DuplicatePoker.com offers Texas hold'em scored using an innovative system where players seated in the same position at different tables compete against each other with the same cards to acquire the most chips. Players are dealt identical cards at each table and whoever has the most chips at the end of each session wins.
