Kentucky State poker case delayed again!

The court case being brought to the table by the state of Kentucky has been delayed yet again in order to give the poker companies their day in court and their opinions on the issue. As we have covered in great detail the governor of the state of Kentucky is looking to gain a legal ruling forcing the transfer of 141 prominent gambling domain names to the state of Kentucky to avoid those in the state playing online poker and other forms of gambling.

However, while the case is far from over it looks to be going the way of the gambling companies with the judge suggesting that poker for one is a skill based game not a game of chance. Much of the basis for the case is that online gambling is not allowed under Kentucky law, even though the state runs its own lottery and horse racing industry.

Even though both sides have yet to admit victory or defeat it seems almost inevitable that they will come to a compromise deal – indeed the judge even indicated this in his initial closing comments – which will see the sector legalised and the state receive some form of income stream.
