Thursday 2nd October 2008 Parlay’s Italian Job
Canadian online bingo software developer and licensor Parlay Entertainment Incorporated has signed a deal with Italy’s Microgame SpA that will see it launch two new online bingo networks next year.
The Ontario firm revealed that each network is to be powered by an online platform combining its Internet bingo, casino and other soft game products with Microgame's existing game management and administration infrastructure.
Parlay stated that the first network would offer bingo to Italian players once the government added bingo to its list of regulated online games, something it predicted would occur during the first quarter of next year. It said that the second network, most likely to be based in Malta, would offer the same games to an international marketplace and have a target launch date during the second quarter of 2009.
'We are delighted to partner with Microgame to offer our leading-edge games in Italy, which will be a new regulated marketplace for Parlay and for bingo,” said Scott White, Chief Executive Officer for Parlay.
“We view the opportunity with Microgame, making use of their existing relationships, infrastructure and large customer base in Italy, as an excellent way to enter this new market for bingo.'
Microgame is authorised by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance to offer sports and poker wagering and currently manages more than 750,000 online gaming accounts generating gaming turnovers in excess of $614 million last year alongside proceeds of more than $20 million.

“The agreement will allow Microgame to offer Italian gaming operators served by it the opportunity to immediately enter this new market as protagonists and with success by combining the powerful characteristics of Parlay bingo with the functionalities of Microgame's regulated gaming service provider.'
