Will poker ever become an Olympic sport?

We have covered this question in the past but it just won’t go away and as the poker craze continues to spread around the world the pressure will just not go away either. But there is one reason and one reason alone which will ensure that poker will never become an Olympic sport!

The authorities will say they are protecting the young and vulnerable, while they continue to take massive taxes from casinos around the world, they will claim that poker is a game of chance and not skill but above all, the poker industry will never be accepted around the world because of the strong following of various religious parties – traditionally in the US.

Every form and any form of gambling has always been under pressure from religious parties in the US and they carry too many votes for politicians to rock the boat. While voters in the US, and in other areas of the world, have their own minds, more and more are taking guidance from their political leaders.

It would have been interesting to see poker as an Olympic sport but this seems very unlikely at this moment in time.
